Resortecs

First off, “Disruptive Materials” at Interzum 2019 was fantastic. My thanks again to everybody who was part of the organisational team and those who supported my project. I will upload some images soon.

At the congress I met a super smart young man called Cedric Vanhoeck, founder of Resortecs. He and his team developed a thread that essentially melts away in heat to make the disassembly and recycling of clothing easier. Initially I did not fully understand the significance of his product until he started talking to me about the amounts of overstock clothing that gets burned up, because it’s too expensive to disassemble (with current technology) or store.

Very deservedly, Resortecs won H&M’s Global Change Award last year and they are now in the process of perfecting their threads and building their first disassembly oven. Go circular economy!
